Generally, in the English Language Curriculum for secondary schools in Trinidad and Tobago the ministry of Education advices that students be exposed to the various types of literature. These are types are poetry, prose and drama. The educational focus of this brochure on poetry was to give the students of form two and introduction to poetry to get them started in poetry analysis in the future. This brochure defined poetry as another form of literature and built student interest in this literary form.
